This year, as we distribute 150,000 more pairs of shoes, we are thankful for your support in spreading the Good News of Jesus’ love through the gift of new Christmas Shoes! Thank God that such a simple idea – sturdy, durable shoes – has had such a significant and life-changing impact on the health and well-being of children in need around the world. With an overall project goal of 150,000 pairs, an additional $540,000 above LIFE’s other ministry and mission commitments is needed. In this, the 14 th year of LIFE’s Christmas Shoe Project, the cost to manufacture, supply and deliver each pair of shoes is $3.60. LIFE distributes comfortable, durable, all-terrain shoes that come in all sizes for children of different ages, saving each child who receives a pair of shoes from an untold number of cuts, bruises, infections, diseases, and difficulties. LIFE’s Christmas Shoes not only give joy to children – they save lives. Tragically, some are crippled for life because of injuries to their tender feet as children. Other shoeless children in need are forced to navigate treacherous terrain in search of water sources or cross hot, burning sands in desert regions – all without the protection of shoes.įor a poverty-stricken child in an underdeveloped nation, even the smallest cut on one foot can be devastating, allowing infection or disease to enter their small bodies. They walk over trash and broken glass, risking cuts, infection, disease and, in rare cases, complications that lead to death. They scavenge for food and items to sell. Some of the children in need of shoes live near garbage dumps. That’s why we say, “ Christmas joy comes in pairs!” Sharing the gift of new shoes with a child who has never owned a new pair – or perhaps never even worn shoes – is a moment of pure joy. It is a beautiful expression of the Father’s Heart.Īt Christmastime, new shoes are about more than the fight for survival we want to show children in need that life is also about experiencing joy. It is giving the gift of new shoes to a child in need. There are good points to the place, but overall, the bad outweighs - more.LIFE’s beloved Christmas Shoe Project is a picture of genuine joy. That manager was very flexible on time, family needs, etc., as long as work was done. In fact, that is the thing I like most about my last manager. Some managers are micromanagers and treat their people like 4 year olds. The department managers and overall workplace environment varies, depending on who one works for. Aside from all of that, there is very little upward advancement. The last one I got was 2% - not enough to do anything with. They do not give "cost of living" raises or performance based raises. Instead of re-evaluating salaries or giving raises, they admit they know the people are not paid enough to survive and, instead, point them to community charities for help. They pay way below market averages and when a need is brought up, they don't care. Otherwise, they are disconnected and clueless. If you are of a certain position or pay-grade, the higher ups know you and care. Management is completely disconnected with the bulk of the staff. With a gift of any amount, you will receive the Light of the World Candle and for a large donation, you can get a bronze sculpture. The program rescues children vulnerable to sex traffickers, providing them with hope. However, that same help does not extend to the employees. LIFE Outreach International asks you to donate money to Mission: RESCUELIFE. The place does good work around the globe, helping people in need. As with anywhere, there are not some folks that are not as good, that play favorites, and don't follow through with what they say consistently. There are some really good people that work there. I have been at Life Outreach for over 10 years, in multiple positions and departments.
